Digiscoping
is combining a bird watchers spotting scope with a digital camera to
allow images to be taken at high magnifications, enabling high quality
pictures without disturbing the birds.
Example:
|
|
The Picture above shows
a scene over some marshland, no birds are visible but there is a large
flock of waders on the far bank. This picture was taken using a Nikon
Coolpix 4500 at its wide angle setting (Zoomed right out).
|
|
This picture was taken with the Nikon
Coolpix 4500 at full zoom (4X) the waders are now visible.
|
|
This photograph was taken
using the Nikon Coolpix 4500 fixed to a Swarovski ST80ST Telescope with
the zoom eye piece set at 20X

Though a little quality
has been sacrificed this pictures was taken at full zoom (60x)
on the scope, and full zoom (4x) on the Coolpix and is
un-croped. It demonstrates the results that can be achieved with this
sort of setup and extreme magnifications.
